Does anyone here know how to get chickweed to grow and spread, or how to get seeds?

My girls absolutely love it, they shear the one little patch in my yard down to the ground every time I move their tractor near it. I would really like to figure out how to grow more.

As an alternative, anyone who pastures or ranges their chickens, have you noticed if they like clover? I know where to get seed for that if they might like it.

I know it does sound crazy, to propagate weeds just for my chicken's enjoyment........ yup, I'm a little crazy.

we dont have much chickweed but clover is rampant.

Nice thing about chickweed is it grows in winter here in Jersey. This morning it is frozen solid but will be fine tomorrow. And my ladies do love it.

They say it can be toxic but I think they would have to eat a whole lot of it, it is very nutritious
Very high in vitamins, minerals, and protein

as per the site you reccommended. Nice place to buy seeds.

I thought chickweed is rampant in our yard that would make us itch up a storm if our bare skins made contact with it. However my girls LOVE them and they mowed them down thru the chain link fence made it bare so I can plant some flowers LOL!

If I could let them out, I bet there will be NO chickweed left in the yard LOL! Neighbors around me like to spray that stuff because chickweed choke out grasses and love to make runners here and there.
