Pro's or Con's to a wire floor coop???

I love your yard.

First, please use paragraphs when you are typing that much. i.e., separate predators from wire floor from composting, etc.

I would not use a wire floor. It is bad for their feet. The dirt underneath the 'floor' will be cool. Nice for summer, not for winter.

Don't use sand if you have clay substructure. Water, plus clay, plus sand, equals concrete.

Raccoons will come out before dark when the days are long. Great horned owls hunt fowl during mating season, which is early spring here. You'll know it's a great horned owl if the chickens head is ripped off and the rest of the bird is left. Your best deterrent to four legged creatures is that lovely dog.
