I am a wild bird rehabber (with three pet feral hens; lightweight birds). Several days ago, I was given a feral chick (2 1/2 to 3 weeks old) who suffered a partial leg amputation due to trauma (just above the foot -- about mid tarsus). The bird is otherwise doing well; able to hop a bit and find food and water in the cage. Does anyone have experience fashioning a temporary artificial leg for a young bird? I am just thinking down the road, so that the bird does not develop bumblefoot -- something to take some of the pressure off of the other foot. Thank you in advance for your help.

I would check the avian vets in your area.

If they don't, they may know who does...

or they may be able to guide you in what you could use.... Good Luck on your Journey
