protecting ducks from raptors

Netting over the run is best. I am not in a position to do that. I have crows and have been feeding them and they have been protecting the ducks.

Can you discuss your relationship with the crows and what you've done to keep them around? We have some around here as well as hawks. I am on the fence about trying something to keep them nearby for protection as I also have a garden that I would prefer they not raid.

I bought a bag of cracked corn to feed them around the duck enclosure. They come every year to raise their young. This is the first year I have tried to keep them around. They rescued my duck from a hawk attack and generally give the hawks a hard time. I have never had a garden problem with them. I do not grow corn in my garden. Tomatoes, green beans, peas, cucumbers, squash, peppers. They don't seem to like those.

@Magnolia Ducks thanks for the insight. That's about what I grow in my garden, too. I was thinking about doing some gem corn, 3 sisters style, but we shall see. I always want to grow more than I have room for.

I have a bag of cracked corn, I'll see if I can attract the crows!

I have all my garden out now, most of my difficulties are mammals followed by insects. We had a late freeze which got most of my peaches but it should be a decent year for citrus. My satsuma is full for the first time and I am hoping for pomegranate this year.

my aunt is a professional breeder and she told me she sean crows beat a weasel to death and torment a fox out of the yard!
