I moved my flock of Penedesencas, Cuckoo Marans, and a Silkie from their grow-out coop to the "big girls" coop and run today and watched in consternation as the temp went from 83 to 60 in about two hours. I had made the switch because I figured they'd be warm, even though they wouldn't figure out how to go to the coop for the night.
They wandered around cheeping their heads off for hours, but when I looked out at the run a minute ago, not a chicken is in sight. That's a first!! This is the third or fourth group of young'uns I've integrated and it's taken all of them at least three days to figure out, but these smarties got in on the first night! Yahoo!
