Yesterday afternoon, our dogs scared off a hawk despite our flock yards having netting over top to prevent the hawks from taking them.
I ran out to barking and saw the hawk flying away and then checked the hens just in case.
I was so proud that each of them got a treat and a pet on the head.
Mouse had her chicks underneath her and she had flown at me when I approached to count the chicks. I'm not actually mad that she attacked me, I was happy. All chicks were accounted for.
The other hens and the ducks were hiding the whole time but soon came out.
