Chirping
Hello everyone,
My lady king quail (the orange one in the pictures) has been puffed up for the past few months, but not showing any other signs.
For context, she is an older hen. She stopped laying a few months ago and has been puffed up 24/7.
Besides the puffing she is still eating, drinking, normal activities. Her poops are healthy as well.
The only change I’ve seen in her behavior is that she is constantly looking for warmth. I bought her a heating lamp to fulfill her needs, she loves it, but it doesn’t seem to help with the puffing.
A little history on my hen, she has been overweight (70 grams). She lost the weight when the puffing began and she is stable around 55 grams, which is still healthy range.
She ate less during that time, but she is back to eating like her good old self again. When it began, she stopped laying, she hasn’t laid since. It’s been almost 4 months.
Can someone help? Is this an age thing? Is she in pain? How can I help her? Any supplements?
Your help is very much appreciated!
