This is my Buffy. She's a 25 week old Buff Orpington. I'm new to this and got 6 chicks in June . 2 was ago I was up north while son was taking care of hens and came home to her puffy right eye. No other symptoms. Breathing fine no nasal or eye discharge. Other hens all fine . Everyone eating drinking poop appears normal. Looks like maybe some earlier pecking of her comb too. She's been having some pecking order issues with some of the girls so I think that started it. She also had a small chip on her beak. The eye puffiness seemed to go down and I was hoping that was the end of it but now it's puffy again and the tip of her beak is chipped off completely on top. I'm concerned about dehydration because she only had nipple waterer in coop. I have been giving them fresh dish of water daily with poultry cell last 2 weeks. I got these meds today. And also my neighbor gave me some Tylan powder in case it's needed. Looking up videos on how to clean eyes and nostrils without traumatizing her. Been loving on her and checking for symptoms. I don't know what to do about the beak? I've brought her inside and keeping her in my bathroom. Looking for reassurance and anything else I should be doing? Pix and video attached. Thx Dee
I have to load vid on youtube 1st I think.

Poor Buffy!

I'd clean the eye with the saline or eye wash, then put a little of the Triple antibiotic ointment in the eye.

Giving her a deep dish to drink from is a good idea. The beak is uneven, so you can take a nail file/emery board and gently file and smooth the beak.

Tylan (Tylosin) powder is an antibiotic and can be used to treat infection from respiratory illness. It may help with the puffy eye, but I'd first see if it starts to heal and look better by tending to it a couple of times a day.

Thank you very much for your help. 🙂
