(This has been going on for a week now )

I have a 5 month old pullet that was found lying on the ground last week not wanting to walk. I picked her up and brought her in the house to warm her up and get a better look at her.

She didn't want to put any weight on her left leg. So I thought she hurt herself somehow. Her leg did have some red marks almost like a scrape but no bleeding.

I've googled just about everything. I guess it could be Marek's but she also doesn't fit what I read on that.

She hasn't started laying yet so I didn't think egg bound would be it, plus it's been a week now. She eats and drinks just doesn't want to move around unless she has too.

Now to top it all off when we did feel around her pelvic area to see if she could be egg bound we felt a fairly large size egg shape lump. I don't know how long that lump has been there, because I didn't check at first thinking it was still a bit early for laying.

In this video she doesn't want to stand but now she will and will take some steps.
She got pecked at pretty good before I found her so she is covered in blue.

Hope this video works.

Put her in a cage or crate to limit movement. The less she moves around, less chance for further injury. Provide food and water while she's caged.
Add vitamin B complex to her feed, it should help speed up healing.
I suspect it's a sprained tendon or ligament and will take a long time to heal...weeks, maybe a couple months.

Thank you so much.

A good guess.

the only other guess I have is... just how cold was she? How cold has it been where you are?

I do know of chickens where the leg froze.

Rusty's guess is more likely. But, if the leg starts turning funky colors....

The hen was found on the ground last week according to the OP. The legs wouldve been black and blue by now. They arnt black and blue in the pic.
Not a guess, I've dealt with many sprained ligament/tendon issues in my 38 years of chicken keeping.

The lows last week got down to 16F, highs about 30's.

Her legs definitely look pretty normal.
