It'll pull. See if it'll stretch enough. I've treated a lot of wounds of all various severities, I helped an avian vet for a while with chickens from a dog massacre and learned a lot.Try to pull the skin together and glue it? It seems like a huge patch of skin is missing, I don't know if there is enough to pull together. I will try. Should I use any disinfectant after I rinse it?
If you have vetricyn you can use that. I'd flush it with just regular saline otherwise though. It's in a difficult spot to wrap, and wrapping is extremely stressful for the bird. So I wouldn't recommend that.
Don't give her aspirin, because that causes the blood to not clot properly. If they're bleeding they can bleed out. I don't think pain medicine is necessary. The shock will wear off.You can give her baby aspirin for the pain. I forget the dosage but you can search the threads. I ended up giving mine one whole baby aspirin, crushed and sprinkled over tomato slices.
I’ve never dealt with open wounds so I don’t have any advice. My girl got into the dog run, and my dog had fun plucking her until I heard the cries and rescued the chicken. It was amazing how quickly she healed - back in the coop after a couple of days.
Good luck!
I would just try to stretch it and get it glued shut. It'll keep any debris and stuff out.How do you bind this with glue? I think if you can bind it you can either stich and or wrap it regardless.
And definitely keep her alone for a while. You can put some electrolytes in her water too if you have any. Suturing birds is hard because of how thin their skin is. It can be done, but you need a special thread and needle to do it. And it's not good to do if you don't know what you're doing.
