Pullet layed for a week and stopped?

Had the first one of our pullets start laying a couple weeks or so ago. She layed a pullet sized egg for about 4 days out of the week and then didn’t lay any for 3-4 days and then layed one that wasn’t shaped like the others and was kind of rough. She hasn’t layed since that one. The chicken is 18 weeks old, and started out like it was going to be a good layer. Don’t know what breed it is other than a mix up at Tractor Supply.
Reckon she will start up again or is this a going to be a defective chicken?

Are you providing a layer pellet? It takes a lot of calcium to create eggs. Also, sometimes it takes a bit of time for a hens reproductive track to get going. I would give her more time before you cull/get rid of her.

They are getting a 20% all flock feed with free choice oyster shells. I will give her more time. In the past when I’ve had chickens one they start laying they have layed consistently.
