I bought 2 chicks from the feed store to go along with my 2 chicks I ordered from MPC (2 out of 4 didn’t make it in the mail 😢). I typically try not purchase from feed store as they often end up being sexed wrong, but I wanted some that day so they would all be close to same size and age. These were labeled as ameracauna pullets. I’ve grown quite attached to them but I think the lighter colored one might be a rooster. Nugget is larger than the others (even Fiona, the chick I bought from same bin at feed store), completely different color and a lot wilder/braver. They’re 5 weeks old now. I can’t have a rooster where I live, so I’m hoping I’m wrong about the gender. Help!

Slightly young, but both seem to be pullets as of right now

Size does not really work well for determining sex in EEs. They are mutts, so they come in so many shapes and sizes and variation.

Young chicks, but they look like pullets to me! Kind of cool I just hatched out a random barnyard mix egg with the EXACT same pattern as the gold and black one! No beard but otherwise the same!
Wonder what the mix is! I’ve never had EEs but it’s kind of fun not knowing what colors and sizes they will be :love

Yeah aren't they fun! So they may have a similar "recipe". I got my eggs from a neighbor because I wanted colored eggs instead of my own beige ones. I hatched out a bunch of EE/OE eggs. I know the rooster was a black olive egger. I would imagine the mom looked like yours, than the extra black just didn't affect this one too much.
