Pullet or cockerel

Is this sapphire gem a pullet or cockerel? I don’t have an exact age as I just got it about a week ago from a neighbor who didn’t want it. But I think it’s around 10-12 weeks

It looks like a pullet but if it is 10-12 weeks then rooster I'm thinking.

That looks like a cockerel. Since Sapphire gems are sex linked and males of that breed are barred, that is probably not a Sapphire gem. It looks splash instead of blue, and it could be a Sapphire splash, as I don’t think those are sex linked.

Leaning cockerel. Pretty big wattles for 10-12 weeks.

I would say cockerel because of the comb and wattle size and colour but im not completely sure

Well turns out that this little one is older than I thought and is absolutely a pullet as she laid an egg yesterday

Are you sure it was that one? If so, congrats!

I am. It is in an area that only she is in right now and all of my other hens are almost 5 years old and laying much bigger eggs.
