I had something interesting happen today. The 2 in question are both naked necks.. 17 weeks old today. I had Tobee on my lap looking at/inspecting feathers.. after I finished she sat for a minute then jumped down. as Tobee jumped down, Frida stood tall and jumped at Tobee high enough to "stomp" with one foot on Tobees back.. Tobee just scurried away. now I believed they were both female... but several people have said they think they are male.. is the described behaviour indicative of a particular sex??

Do you have photos of the birds in question? : D
yes.. recent ones.. The wind was blowing Frida's feathers... the last one is a good shot of feathers, but middle one of both of them, shows Tobee's face..

17 weeks... god hmm.. I wanna say pullet, the combs and wattles are fairly small and pale
I think so too!! the feathers people keep saying are saddle feathers are really not that thin and pointy, compared with my roostersof the same age. Any thoughts on the jump and stomp behaviour?

Leaning towards pullet buy dont be too surprised if not. Here are two of mine at that same age

Both ended up males. And then I had a few pullets that seemed rather red in the early weeks

This is one of the pullets, at maybe 10-12 weeks? Totally thought she was a boy. I think this breed is one of the hardest to sex early imo

I would not read anything in that behavior, could be either sex.

I get mixed feelings on the first one, the darker one. The legs look kind of heavy, a sign of a male. The tail is turning down a little, which is a clue it might be a male but some girls can have that. The saddle and hackle feathers look rounded, not pointed, a sign of a girl at that age. The size of the comb and wattles doesn't bother me at that age. The pink instead of bright red is a girl sign. I lean toward girl but would withhold final judgement for a while.
