I have two so called ''pullets'' and havent been able to tell weither or not they are a he or a she. I reached out to pet one of them today and she/he did the little squat thingy. I was wondering...does that mean its a hen? Or do roos do the little squat thingy too?
I was so thrilled today...2 of my favorite EE's did the squat today! I knew then, for the first time in almost 20 weeks that I have pullets, for sure!! Their combs had started getting really big and red a few days ago. I've posted many pictures of these girls and quite a few people here thought they were boys! Now I just have one more 20 wk old EE that isn't squatting and she was the one who most people truly thought was a roo. I wish she would squat, but her comb is no where near as red as the other two. She may just be going to take longer to start laying. I'm pretty sure she's a pullet just because she still has a very small comb and it's only pink.
I'm sure roos don't squat. That's a posture that a pullet/hen takes so the roo can mount her...so I don't think a roo would do that unless he wasn't sure what he was!
