Went out to turn generator on to top off batteries just after dark. I heard a familiar squawk. One of the 15 week old FBCM pullets did not make the door before it came down. She is always the last one in. Trying to catch a black Chicken in the dark is a pain. Finally got her cornered and grabbed her. Door does not shut until it's almost dark? Really don't want to make the door close any later. I hope this is a one time thing!

There's one Easter Egger I have that refuses to stay in the coop. She took off on me for almost a week. I'd already presumed her dead when one early 6am my father found her sleeping on a piece of plywood not far from the coop. She always takes off after dusk so I have no choice but to keep her penned up 24/7 with my Polish hens. I'm not sure what makes them not roost in the coop when everyone else does!
