I have 2 pullets and 4 big girls. Pullets are 18 mo. They are fully integrated since 8 weeks. They all roost at night except one, she stares at the roost and looks afraid to jump up there and ends up sleeping under the wall feeder. They have plenty of room to jump and the 2by4 roost is 8 feet long.... I don't understand, will she ever roost??? BTW they are tractor supply gold sex links...

She may just not be comfortable up there. Maybe she tried it a couple of times and hurt herself either getting up or down. I have a 6 week old Buff Brahma who sees all of her brooder mates up there but every single time she tried she overshot the roost.

She's getting a little gunshy now - she stands under it and hunches up , then springs up but her feet never actually leave the ground. She looks like, "Okay, okay....um, here I go....just watch me - Nah, I don't think so!" Then she just runs around under the roost instead, finally plopping into a corner.

Maybe you can build a very low, temporary roost and start putting her up there at night. I plan to try that with Amelia. (She didn't have a name until she started this behavior - now she's named after the famous pilot in hopes that her courage will eventually win the day!)
