Hi,
So my Lakenvelder has now appeared to stop laying altogether? She started in September, so not that long ago, and was good for an egg every other day, most recently NOT in the nesting box, and now appears to have stopped altogether. They are in a 64' run, only four chickens, plus the 32' open sided coop level with the roost and nesting boxes. The only other pullet laying is a Golden Comet who is like clockwork and has always laid in the nesting box, and the two Polish girls are getting close and being VERY curious about the nesting box, and today I found a bunch of the nesting material outside one of the boxes. I just added fresh pine shavings to their coop level and to the boxes. I have searched the run high and low - it's not that big and doesn't have any hiding places really - and no egg, nor any signs of egg eating. I've watched her as much as I can without sitting and staring at her for hours (which would make her nervous as heck, she's already flightier than the rest). Thoughts? I don't have curtains over the nesting box, my next thought is to hang a curtain and see if she just wants that little bit more privacy.
