Hi everyone
See details below - I'm hoping someone knows!
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
She is 18 weeks old, a silver partridge araucana, and normal weight (as I have two others who are fit and healthy).
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
She has cross beak, its minor and only appeared at 12 weeks, so she does run around more, and is more interested in me/ following me than the others as if she is hungry all the time.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
The lump only appeared last week, it is fairly soft, looking under her beak it is solid and her tonge is in the right place. Her beak has been an issue for 4-6 weeks now. Her sister died as a chick, had parrot peak and a herniated beak floor so her tonge fell into the lump under her beak which was really upsetting so we put her down. This is why I am so nervous of this symptom!
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No, just her sister who we put down at 4 weeks.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
No
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Growers pellets and corn, occasional layers pellets if left by adult birds.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Appears normal.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
None so far as I am unsure on what it is, it's not any form of pox or mareks because beside the lump she is in fine health.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
Ideally I'd like to treat myself.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
Will do.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Standard wooden arc, with saw dust bedding.
