Pullets? 🤞🏻 6-7 week update

Hi!

I have some updated photos of my chickens at just over 6 weeks! I’m getting nervous. Please be 2 pullets… any thoughts? (or encouragement?…hope? lol) They have feathered/grown at the exact same rate and have very similar temperaments.

Also I suspect they are not full/pure Dark Brahmas… maybe a mix? I’m the farthest from an expert but have been "researching" a lot and there are some differences I’ve noticed (it’s hard to see in these photos but, fluffy cheeks?). I don’t even know for sure if they come from the same parents.
They’re back inside right now because I’m finishing some work on their coop.

I think Happy Feet could maybe be a pullet, but its legs are awfully thick. Winnie looks to a cockerel to me because the comb is largish and coloring up early. Brahmas do not have beards or muffs, so I suspect these are crosses with Easter eggers.

Some of the older bloodlines do have fluffy cheeks. Some hatcheries have these lines like cackle. Happy Feet is a pullet and Winnie is a cockerel based off of comb along with black patches combing in on chest and back end.

Thanks! We haven’t been too worried about Happy Feet lately as most, if not all, signs point to pullet. Hope it stays that way. Winnie is our concern… really don’t want to have to give her away.

I see what you mean with the colouring in addition to the comb… been watching that happen and ugh. Oh Winnie. I’ll stay in denial as much as possible I guess until I hear a crow or see an egg.

Yeah, it's pretty clear now, isn't it? Glad you got at least one pullet.

These are definitely not pure Brahmas but probably Brahma mixes. Brahmas would have yellow legs, and there's no way they'd have beards and muffs that size.
