I'm looking to start raising chickens for eggs in my yard. I wanted to get some pullets so that I could have eggs sooner. I was looking for red sexlinks but can only find them as chicks. I was thinking of buying some Rhode Island Red pullets and some red sexlink chicks. My question is can I mix pullets and chicks together? Will they get along? Please forgive my ignorance, I'm a total beginner!

Glad to have you! It's generally not a good idea to have chicks with full or mostly grown chickens together, as the older ones may kill the younger. Is there any way you can keep them separate until they're closer to the same size?

Thank you, that certainly answers my question! I only have one coop so I think I'll probably get pullets now and then some chicks in here spring when I have a better setup and can keep them separate.
