I need an experienced voice please. My pullets are 25 weeks (5 white leghorn) and 15 weeks (a mix of 6 BR, EE, cochin.) So far no eggs just amusement. Since we only have 12 hours of daylight now will they hold off laying till spring? I am inclined to not give them extra light. Any opinions, thoughts????
Thanks

I have a coop and two pens.

The large coop has a light go on at 6AM and off at 8PM every day.. it's been that way for two years.

They aren't laying so well right now.

In my west pen I have no artificial light. Got 6 eggs out of 7 hens today.

Who knows??!!!!

It is my understanding that the chickens will still lay with less sunlight. They just don't lay as many eggs. Those pullets that are 25 weeks should start laying at anytime. What start do you reside?
