Hi everyone, I have 8 pullets that are at POL. my first hen started laying on Sunday. She did not lay again until wed am. This I am sure is normal for newbies. So this morning nothing. but around noon DH found and egg in a different box which I suspected was a new hen laying. I am now sure of this as in the box that my first one lays in, tonight I reached in to rearrange the straw to cover the floor and I find some wet straw, I pull it out and sure enough it is full of yolk looking sticky yellow stuff. I totally tear the straw out and not a sign anywhere of any shell or bits of any shell. My first thought was they broke and ate an egg. But after not finding even a shard of shell anywhere I wonder could it have just been shelless?
I cleaned out the box and refilled with fresh straw.. Anyone have any ideas? all this normal or? thanks I am new to this chicken stuff but just am so facinated and in love with my little ones!
