Because the wind blows fences down, the meter reader doesn't get the gate correctly latched, the neighbors don't keep their chickens properly confined and they fly into my yard.
My dogs show no interest in the poultry because they have been told the poultry is mine and they are to leave it alone. However, I would never leave dogs alone and unsupervised with any livestock. Dogs are dogs, chickens (and sheep) are foolish, and accidents happen. I don't take any chances that my birds will get hurt. Or my dogs either, for that matter, if they annoy the goose with the new goslings.
