my puppy was in the backyard with the chickens. My puppy got a hold of the chicken and had her by the neck. she has 2 wounds. what should I do? I have given her asprin and she moves a little. She opened her eyes when I moved her. The nearest farm vet is over 3 hours away. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to BYC, and sorry about the chickens. Do you have pictures of the wounds? What have you got for wound care at home? Chlorhexidene, weak Betadine, or saline are food for cleaning a wound. Plain Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment are very good to put on after cleaning twice a day until healed. Many use Vetericyn or a similar feed store wound spray as well. If she is in shock keep her warm, separated, and in a quiet dim spot inside.

Bring her in, get her warm. Is she bleeding from the wounds? how’s her breathing? any paralysis?
