Purple Combs?

I have 2 Golden Campine roos who have huge combs. They do stand up straight though. I noticed a few weeks ago that the tips were dark purple, then a few days later they weren't, then they were, then they weren't, now they are.

I don't know if this is helpful bit here's info about them and their lifestyles and diet:

They are 27 weeks old
They look and act healthy otherwise
It has not gotten below 50° in their lifetime
We had a small lice problem for a while but it is under control now
None of the other chickens have this problem
I feed all my chickens a mix of 75% layer and 25% scratch
They free range all day
They are not picked on by any of the other chickens
It has been a really off and on problem
It has been very hot and very dry lately but has been cool the last week
They found our apple trees and eat a lot of apples nowadays
They always have access to clean water
I sweep out their coop every week and deep clean every two weeks

I can't really think of anything else, but I'm sure with all that irrelevant info I forgot something important. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thanks bunches~Ms.B

My Welsummer rooster has the same thing. It seems to me that it's more hormonal though, in his case. I'm not sure. He's got such a big comb and the tips in the back will get really dark purple, then after a little while they go back to normal. I've never noticed it in my EE Roo, or my Sebright roo. They have smaller combs. My RIR Roo that I had, did the same thing, and his comb was big too. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
