hello- We have just gotten into guineas this year, and have hatched about 100 Royal Purple keets is numerous hatches. Until the last hatch the coloration has been quite uniform between chicks. The last hatch of 17 has about 5 keets that have much darker coloration around there eyes and thighs, which are normally almost white. This hatch was also 2 days early.
These birds all came from the same small group of 4 hens and 4 males. There is not any other poultry in the area.
I am curious if this is genetic, or caused by some other environmental variable? Has any one else raising color guinea noticed much variation?
I will try to get a pic. Thanks
