Hi all, we have lost 3 chickens in the last 6 weeks or so, and 2 of those this week during the day. 2 apparently died in our chicken run and 1 inside the coop overnight. It was like she was roosting and just feel off the bar and died. All seemed quite heathly and no one was acting sick or anything like that. Our coop is like fort knox. It is new construction built last summer and is attached to our garage so the builder built it like a little separate room. The trap door closes automatically each night. Attached to the back of the coop & garage is a large enclosed run that is very secure. We do open the gate during the day & they free range in a very large chicken yard that is fenced. None of the hens appear to have been eggbound. We checked the one that died today for bites of any kind and this evening I looked for holes from the enclosed run under the foundation i.e. snake holes or something. They just pretty much keel over and pass away. The only thing we can think of is they are munching on sometime toxic. There are no weeds in the enclosed run and grass in the chicken yard, but there are a lot of different weeds, bushes etc. from the pasture growing through the bottom fence. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks and I'm sorry this is so long.

Thank you. They are about 14 months, were hatched on 6/6/16 to be exact. One was a light brahma, one was a silver wyondotte & the one today was a buff orpington. We've had chickens for years and never had something like this happen. When we've lost chickens in the past it's always been obvious why.
