I checked with my town and learned that I do not need any special permits for goats or sheep - Yay! I already have chickens so I am used to outdoor critter care. I've been reading up on goat care as well as sheep care and I'm leaning towards goats. Here are my questions:
Do goats eat grass down to dirt? My chickens have a coop and a large run and their run is nothing more than dirt. When I create the pen for the goats will that too be nothing more than a dirt space?
Do wethers smell badly during mating season? I've heard that male goats do but wondered if they were castrated if they still smelled and how awful is it?
Can you compost goat droppings?
Are goats loud? Yes, I know they will make some noise but are they very loud? What would you equate it to?
How large of an area would you need for two pygmy goats. Just wondering how large to make their space.
How difficult is it to learn to trim goat hooves?
