Hello all, has anyone tried using a pyrethrin (not permethrin) product to treat lice in your flock? Do you have suggestions for specific products and treatment method/concentrations?
We've been dealing with an ongoing lice infestation and have been trying with very limited success using only natural products. I'm now considering using a permethrin dust to nip it in the bud and continue maintaining the flock with occasional pyrethrin treatments, since pyrethrin is the natural form of permethrin, and supposedly an organic insecticide with the right formulations. I'd also like to use the pyrethrin product to treat the coop. The problem is that there is VERY little information out there about using pyrethrin with hens and just about all the products I've found are described for garden use only. I'm tempted to use an organic pyrethrin product called Safer but have no idea what concentrations I should be using.
I'd appreciate any info or experience y'all might have. Thanks!
