This is a thread for posting questions that aren't urgent or interesting enough to be thread worthy. Moderators please delete if there is already one of these threads up, but if there is I couldn't find it. I was going to put this in the chicken behavior subforum, but off-topic might be a better fit I think.

I'm starting to wonder if my rooster is infertile. I'm not seeing any bullseyes on egg yolks, even though he mates with hens a normal amount. Not having fertilized eggs isn't an issue to me, but I'm curious if this could be a symptom of some other issue? I've heard diet could have something to do with it. They get all flock crumble (with oyster shell in separate bowl), scrambled eggs, scratch grain and other miscellaneous table scraps. They're all seemingly in good health.

Wait, never mind. A couple of today's eggs do look to have been fertilized. Maybe he just has favorite hens. They have been doing a soft molt since the beginning of April, so that can also be taken into consideration.
How many feet is a square acre?
43,560, first result on Google anyway.

Does his comb color look a bit light to anyone here, or just dry skin? The tips are still bright red, that's why I was unsure. It's gotten quite a bit hotter here lately.

Might want to try rubbing some argan oil or Vaseline into it, the skin looks dry. Argan oil is safe for dogs and people so I'm thinking it's probably safe for chickens too.
