Do female pekin ducks quack A LOT or only when you come out to feed them, water them, etc?

(ignore posts below, they were answering a different question)

Females are noisier then males, or at least louder then males. BUT the female will lay you nice eggs. (That's all ducks!)

I would go for it. I find Pekins to be very friendly and mild tempered. My female follows me EVERYWHERE while my males are more stand-offish.

Sounds good! But are they annoying and loud enough to make neighbors complain? Thats what Im scared of. Dx I would love to try a duck egg though...hah never knew you could eat them until now.

Btw, there are barking dogs everywhere at night, are they more annoying than that?

I guess it depends on how close you are to neighbors?! I have an acre and my neighbors all on the adjacent acres with no fence... so my ducks are IN their yard. They say they don't hear them inside, but they have learned to tone out the barking dogs at night, whom I think are WAY louder then the ducks ever get.

Oh if they can't hear it in their house that's good...

Well, the next house is RIGHT next to mine. I have a big yard but theres a house right next to the back, and then theres a house RIGHT to the right to me.

Oh yeah, and would it be fine being the only duck with three other chickens?(all hens)

Oh, also, which is better, a pekin or a mallard? In your opinion at least. I care more about a good pet than eggs but those are nice too. Which are louder?

During the day the mallards will give you a nice air show if you dont clip thgeir wings and they will come home at night

WHY WOULD YOU ONLY WANT ONE DUCK

!!!!! If they can fly it is the coolest thing to see them following each other and one might get lonely and could fly away if she hears other ducks.

I have mallards, pekins and runners. The females of all can be loud. For the most part mine aren't too bad. I don't think anyone except your neighbors can tell you if they are too loud for them. It depends on your relationship I suppose. I will tell you that last year I ended up with extra ducks at my house because someone I worked with had to get rid of them because of the neighbor guy. It always sounds like the ducks are laughing to me, but I guess not everyone likes to listen to them.

Thanks!
Another question, do they ALWAYS quack, or only when you come out to give them treats, food, water, etc?
