They stopped laying about a week ago! My quail are indoors and I've added extra light on a timer a couple of days ago but they haven't started back laying yet. Will they? Or are they done until Spring? This is the first fall/winter with them for me and I'm surprised that they quit so soon.

when I put lights on mine this past spring it took 2-3 weeks for them to respond these were bobs my coturnix are still going but they get some of the bobs light I am still getting a few fertile bobs eggs but we are getting like 12 hours daylight and I add a couple at either end of the day

Temperature doesn't affect them laying...only amount of light does. Could they be starting to moult? I have a few who are moulting now and they won't lay when they molt...just make a mess with their feathers everywhere and look extremely scraggly.

And that's a blessing as far as I'm concerned

This summer was almost unbearable but yep they'll be getting additional heat in awhile, I find it a little early to heat the barn now.
