Anyone ever seen their quail pick up an egg and carry it elsewhere?

This afternoon, I went outside to refresh waters. I figured while I was out there, I'd feed and change their pans out too. I have a hutch with two covered areas. One is open to the outside with hardware cloth and the other is completely enclosed with wood. I have a tray on both sides to hold either shavings or sand or whatever. This time around it's shavings. I looked in the front pan and there were two perfect eggs sitting there. I fiddled with the water, and removed it from the hutch. When I looked again, there was only one egg in the pan. I was confused, so I took the pan out and emptied it and looked on the hardware cloth wire - no egg.

I decided to check the other pan (in the other room of the hutch). Sure enough, the egg was now in there.

Anyone ever see their quail do this?

Now I feel bad for taking it out of there. I guess she really wanted to keep that one.

lol I have seen them roll them great distances with their beaks - I had one hen that liked to play easter bunny and go around to find all the stray eggs and put them in the hay box. It's hilarious to watch, it looks so awkward!
