Quail Dust

Maybe this has been answered before but I couldn't find anything. Are quail "dusty" like chickens? Like if I were to keep some indoors in a cage would I need to worry about a thin film of dust getting on EVERYTHING?

I can tell you that if you have them in a deep litter brooder then yes they are very dusty. I cant tell you how much of that is just from the birds themselves and how much was because the top 2/3 of the cage was wire. They kicked dirt out directly and we had to shield the sides. It was definitely deeper litter than was needed.

I kept mine indoors for a few weeks and yeah, they were dusty.

If they are kept on wire would they still be dusty?

I keep my large brooder in a small outbuilding and everything in there is covered in a white dust.
