Breezy Optimist
In the Brooder
Hi, i am hatchng a single coturnix quail egg, and it is now day 18.
The egg vibrated last night, (2am UK time) and from reading another thread on here i have learned that this means the chick was getting ready to pip.
The chick chirped a few times a little while later. But hasn't made any chirps since.
I can hear tapping inside the egg when i put my ear right up to it. (i have a large homemade incubator and i can fit my head in there lol).
So i am guessing the chick has moved into the air sac, and is now pipping internally?
If i'm correct (i'm brand new and this is my first egg), how long does it take from internal pip to external pip? And when should i start to worry lol
Also, is the fact the chick is not chirping at all since the few chirps last night a sign of anything other than just a very busy chick in there?
