I candled my quail egg once more with a better flashlight and I can see small movements but the egg is still extremely dark to see anything but the air space, veins reaching into the air space, and the dark area are the only things visible, there are no pips or signs the egg wants to hatch. I believe the egg should hatch around Thanksgiving week but I have lost count so how do I know if the eggs needs to go into lockdown for sure and how do I know if the last surviving button quail chick is stuck or struggling to pip it's way out?

Can you post a picture of the egg in question? If you have an egg turner in there, it's probably better to take it out early than leave it in too late. If the chick hatches in the turner, it is likely to get injured.

From your description, I would guess it's around day 10-13, which means lockdown anywhere from tomorrow to Monday.

I would suggest downloading the app HatchKeeper to keep track of your hatches.

As for the last button chick, have you candled? Do you see any movement? What day is it on?

Hi! The incubator has a removable tray to allow the eggs to hatch. I would also like to mention that the egg started to wiggle on its own into its own position a couple minutes ago, I believe it's getting ready to hatch should I wait until it begins to pip to raise humidity and remove the tray, or should I remove the tray and raise humidity as soon as possible. Thank you for the app by the way!

Remove the tray and raise the humidity now and put down some grippy shelf liner to prevent leg issues when it hatches.

I have already done that so no need to worry, I have found the day when the incubation process had begun, the first day had ended on November 11 if i haven't mentioned before.

Another question of you don't mind can I put the humidity to 55% during this time? There are no pips currently on the egg.
