hi i have some cuturnix quail eggs that are on day 17. im worried because my incubator is really finicky so when i put in any water it will always spike to like 80 humidity, and this happens a lot but it will then drop back down to like 30 and just go up and down and up and down like that. is that a big problem. did i kill my eggs? also ive heard they should start hatching day 17 but i dont even have any pips yet. please help.

If your temps are right on, and they are fertile they will probably pip later tonight and hatch tomorrow sometime.

cool, no worry about the humidity? ive heard it can drown the chicks
It's best to keep it low, but if it fluctuates it may be o.k. Now its just a waiting game. If things don't go so good next time put in small amounts of water more frequently so it doesn't spike up so much.

Also pips in quail eggs are super hard to see, they also can pip at the bottom of the egg where you can't see.

My incubator always spikes way up when I add water too. It is no biggie. Your eggs will be fine. The warnings are just for prolonged periods of time, such as 24-48 hours. Good luck on your hatch!
