Hello!

I just got word from my family (I am at a dinner date with my boyfriend in the next state over) that one of the family quail is missing her beak!

I am giving you the information they gave me.

The cage they are in is 1/4" wire mesh. They can't find the rest of her beak (she is missing a part of her beak).

She has had leg problems and has been getting better, but this just throws me for a loop.

I am thinking she hit her beak against the wire and cut it. Almost like when a human gets hurt and the skin rolls up to expose the flesh under it.

When you say she has a leg problems what do you mean?
What exactly do you feed your birds?

We have moved them to crushed laying pellets since they just started laying. We give them veggies and bugs as well.

These birds were gifted to us and we suspected she had a dislocated leg. She wasn't able to walk when we got her and now she is able to get up and move on her own.

Poor thing.
How long have you had them?

This is the chicken version of 'you'll shoot your eye out kid'.

(Beak in the fence.)

Sorry it just...came to me. But I know others will be upset on this thread, but that's what I thought of when I saw it.

Is it bleeding? Can she still eat? I have a chicken, Zesty, who is missing most of her upper beak, (it broke somehow), and she's survived, Praise the Lord!
