Hello guys, so I just got 4 quail about 4 days ago, 3 female and 1 male. We made a big cage for them, with water which we change everyday, we added some plants and vegetables in there (just a bit) and made a box for woodshavings and another box for sand. They seem to like it in there but they still havent layed any eggs. The only concern i have is the food as we use suet pellets, some good bird mix we bought and some oyster shells and some tiny rocks that are good for them (i heard). We cant find any proper quail food near us. The guy who we bought the quail, also just used suet pellets and the quail layed eggs everyday. They get enough light aswell and we add in a light at night for a bit, maybe i should wait a bit longer but if anyone could help it would be great, thanks.

Quail do not like change, and when they move to a new home, they may take up to a two week break from laying. They also need at least 14 hours of light per day.

How much space o they have?
Do they have hiding places?
Do you know the nutrition information on what you're feeding them?
Can you find turkey feed? That is a good option if you can't find game bird/pheasant feed.

If they're still not laying after two weeks, I would look for other things that might be stressing them out.

Good luck and let us know how things go.

Hello, the cage is around 1 feet high and 3 or more feet in length. They have a few hiding places and i will try to find turkey feed for them. Thanks for the info and i will wait a bit longer, thank you.
