Hello guys,
I have an Italian golden quail that got a prolapsed vent yesterday morning. So I’ve separated her from the rest of the flock and placed her in a small dark box to prevent laying, and the internets says that I should replace the “material” back into her. The problem is that she is a very active bird, so she struggles a lot when we try to get the tissue inside and every time the tissue falls back out almost immediately. It’s been 24 hours and there are no progress :( there are quite a few poop accumulating around the vent so I’ve put her in warm water to clean it but I don’t know what else to do :( plsss help…

This is extremely difficult to try to fix and usually not successful. Have you thought about ending her suffering?

I have had chickens with this problem and they have all made it after you fix. When you fix it lather finger with vaseline this will help things slide out the give hemroid cream if this does not work I have another soultion that should work

Before you do this I would give her warm bath with Epsom salt to help relax her.
Did you read what they said? It keeps falling back out.

It's me again. Have you tried my tips yet if this is not working. Should see improvement in a week. Check for egg stuck inside. also is she over or under weight this is usally a big factor.or for some reason she could be holding poop in to long. Has she been broody ? She also needs alot of calcium to rebuild missle for vent to stay in. I would suggest putting in her water.

Thank you very much for your advice! She doesn’t have any eggs stuck inside, and I’ve put her in water and also gave her some calcium and put her in a dark place. Hope she’ll make it through :)
