Quail Roo Killing Hens,

I Have Seen Some Over Aggresive Roos But This Guy Was A Killer, My Jumbo Browns Are About 7 Weeks Old . I Have Two Roos In With Six Hens He Has Started Crowing Or What Ever You Call It The Other Roo Has Not. He Will Top A Hen That Is Not Ready And Wont Stop Untill He Kills Her And Then Will Grab One Of The Other Hens.The Hens That He Killed Would Be All Bloody And Have Half Of There Feathers Pulled Out.So He Is No Longer With Us.Has Anyone Seen One Do This Before.

Yes...every so often we have Bobwhite males like this.

As soon as I see the culprit, he is dispatched to freezer camp. I hate a bully!!

I have had this problem and I use no-pick (purple goop) on the back of the necks of the hens, be careful not to get any in your eyes (I suggest eye protection, personal experience it burns and blinds for awhile).
