Quail surprise!

I put the 5 quail eggs I was incubating into the hatcher a few days ago- but didnt think they were likely to hatch ...Nothing.....

nothing....

and Finally today...I was just about to toss them so I can get it ready for ducklings..... I looked into the incubtor .........And 1 lone quail has hatched. I couldnt believe it.... I will leave the other eggs a little longer... But how am I going to brood 1 lone litle quail??? I sure hope a few more hatch.. The other three a have from a previous hatch are way too big for this little one to live with.

Thanks Kooshie.. I have been watching the other eggs for any sign of movement...But nothing... I sure hope this little guy is ok...It will be hard keeping it warm all on its own.

Wait a little longer maybe the other ones are just a little slower to hatch dont toss them out just yet. and yeah its gonna be really hard to keep him warm all on its own he needs buddies.

Ducky if you are close to columbus, IN I can take the lone one for you.. Or get him/her some A&M friends.. I just had 24 hatch last night and may have more today.. Otherwise get a feather duster and hang it upside down in the brooder,, aim your heat lamp close to but not right on the feather duster and that should keep the lil one warm and feeling safe...
