Quail Toe Injury

I think he may have gotten it caught in the hardware cloth and scraped off the skin? How do I treat it? I have him in the house on wood shavings. It was bleeding pretty badly, so I gave him a bath to clean him up and applied some Neosporin (without painkiller).

Sounds like you're already treating it right, I would just add vet wrap after the Neosporin so the little guy doesn't immediately rub it off. It should heal fine with minimal aid on your part, just keep an eye out for swelling/infection (if you spot any, bath + Neosporin again).

That looks necrotic to me. I'm guessing injury, quite likely something like you described. You're doing the right things, but don't be surprised if the black part dries up and falls off. Your bird will be okay without the toe.
