My 17 yo daughter is a bonafide quail whisperer. Ever since I've raised quail, she has this uncanny way of getting the birds to settle down. Her pet English white will sit on her shoulder as she surfs the internet at the computer desk. She's the only one that can do that... if I put him on my shoulder, he would peck my ear. Today, she reached into the Bobwhite brooder, and just grabbed one out. She gently pet it until it went to sleep in her hands. I just peek into the brooder, and they are running in every which direction.
Last Sunday, I was outside doing yard work all afternoon, and when I eventually made it into the den before dinner, she had all 19 bobwhites on the floor, feeding them corn on the Cob, grapes and raspberries. Normally, I would fuss, but she knew she had some colorful poop to clean up after putting them away.
This Sunday, I'll be putting them into a much larger cage. I wanted these Bobs because I absolutely enjoy hearing their call. I know that they aren't old enough to sex yet, but it appears that I have 10+ males and possibly 2 females.
