Quail

It really depends on what you want them for. If you've never had quail before, I would recommend coturnix. Please make sure to do your research, though. They are NOT miniature chickens. They have different housing and dietary requirements and completely different behaviours.
 
That’s like asking what kind of car or job or dog to get: lifestyle, geography, purpose, ability to house and care for, budget, locally available resources, how much yard/shed/house you have, state regulations…

Buttons are nifty little pets but need warm temps.

Coturnix is a good production bird and fairly domestic and can handle a variety of physical environments and is even allowed in many urban areas and thrives in small spaces.

Most of the others are specialty gamebird types with significant space and care needs, pretty wild, and often requiring special state permits or licensure.
 
I got coturnix quail a while back. They were stupid as heck but laid a lot of eggs. They only lay for about one year and only live for about two. Their eggs were pretty though. Here’s a picture of one of my old ones.
