Quail

I'm looking into processing some of my quail in the near future. My Dad told me I can just dry pluck them once I kill them so I figure it should be a pretty easy process. I'm curious as to the best ages to harvest them. I have coturnix and bobwhites a little over a month old.

One of the articles I read says coturnix can be "harvested" at 4-5 weeks old. Both the bobwhites and coturnix mature at about the same rate, so I'm guessing the same would be true for the BWs. I've never dressed out a quail, but I have dressed out a grouse, and I hear it's similar.

I guess I'll find out myself, soon enough!

That is not bad. I can process my extra males then soon. And have a few more ready a couple weeks later. Thanks.
