Hi all, I am shopping for Jubilee Orpington chicks and wondering if Cackle Hatchery Jubilee Orpingtons are of the same quality as other hatcheries' (Like Meyer or Stromberg) birds that are more expensive.

I would guess that all of the hatchery birds look pretty similar.
I cant speak on the Orpingtons, but i can say their BBS Ameraucana,(Meyers) which are actually Ameraucana are fairly nice.

Jubilee are not all that common. I have 3, bought from a breeder. She bought them fro a breeder, but i strongly suspect that they are a breeder line with a hatchery line. My roo is excellent, one hen is much better than the other.. one is smaller, both are basically colored correctly, just one the color isnt as deep

There dont appear to be all that many breeders that have them compared to other chicken breeds

I have the silverlaced English Orpingtons from Cackle and they look as they should. Big round fluffy with decent lacing. Very recognizable as what they are. I also have the Ameraucana from Cackle and they are a good birds to start with if you want to breed and work to SOP for show later down the road.

I ordered 30 Jubilee Orpingtons from Cackle Hatchery, they shipped 31, I received alive 29 in June - so as of this writing they are 8 weeks old. The A.P.A. has no standard for them, so I've been going by the U.K. standard. All of my chicks are so healthy, and I believe from my research enough of them are very close to the U.K. standard. A breeding program will be in my future - besides having great eggs and meat. I'm very happy with my order!

I ordered 10, straight run back in mid june. I live close enough to cackle that I picked up in person. They gave me 2 extras so 12 total. The JO did just as amazing as the 25 BCM pullets (27 with the 2 extra BCM they through in) till week 6 (I think it was) then lost 3 to what I now believe was coccida. Medicated the remaining 9 and they are all fine now. They are finally old enough to get a really good idea on their sex and it looks like I have 8 hens and 1 roo. I think I used up all my luck and buying a lottery ticket would be a waste of my time. I love them so much. They are one of the prettiest chickens I have ever had. I will need to eventually find a rooster from a different line to avoid inbreeding though.

A few of my girls.
