I have 8 pullets (12 weeks old) and a bantam pullet and cockerel (12 weeks old) that are all on medicated starter feed. They are in a large pen with an attached coop. I have been filling their food container with a couple cups of feed each morning--it's always gone by the next day. I just wanted to know if I should be making sure they have a constant food supply or if there is a certain amount I should be putting in each day. I know they snack on plants and bugs each day and they do have grit available. Just don't want to be feeding them too much or too little.

Thanks!

While they are growing I like to have a little feed left the next day. The amount of they eat increases and varies. For growing chicks I don't think there is a chart that says on day 25 they need x amount of feed. And if you allow them to find some of their own food, like you, its even harder to tell how much they need each day. So having a little left each day means to me they are getting all they need.
