Hi all-
I bought four chicks from my local feed store a week ago. They told me two were cream legbars and the remaining two a black austrolorp and sapphire olive egger. I have no question about three of them. One is clearly a cream legbar, and the other two seem to line up with the descriptions of the other breeds. However, the smaller of the legbars doesn’t look like any legbar I see online. They’re 12 days old now and she’s still yellow (haven’t seen any yellow legbar chicks online, though roughly half in the brooder were yellow), and growing in some beautiful white feathers on her wings. Any thoughts as to what she might be?

Yeah it doesn’t look like a legbar. I was expecting to see an opal legbar pic after reading, because that’s what happened to me. I hatched this cutie and was confused at first, thought she was a he but after fluffing out still didn’t look like the other boys. Then realized I’d hatched an opal legbar, rather than crele like the others. But yours still doesn’t look like an opal legbar.

Looks like one of my Swedish flower hens actually. I’ll attach a pic of her. But they are a landrace and can look like anything, so I wouldn’t say that’s the most likely breed for yours.

The Swedish flower hen is the second pic. First pic is an opal legbar.

I emailed the hatchery and they suggested it might be an ISA brown or a red sex link. I guess we’ll see what she ends up looking like.

It could be a red sex link, of which ISA brown is one brand name among many. But I don't see any red feathers on the chick at this point, so I am a bit skeptical of that. I think it's a case of 'time will tell' with this chick.

The red feathers are on their way.
